a return visit of Rome's Gruppo Teatro Essere (GTE), which perfomed
"Con
Licenza
di Rappresentazione," a play in the commedia dell'arte tradition,
at the
University of Maryland, College Park, Kogod Theater, Clarisse
Smith Performing Art Center on
October
12, 2006 at 7:30 p.m.
GTE's
appearance at
the University was in connection with the College of Arts and
Humanities' Semester on Comedy and Humor.
An
invitation-only anteprima was held October 11 at
the Italian Embassy.
The troupe
then went to Pittsburgh, where GTE was invited to
perform "June 4, 1944, Roma Libera"
on
October 15 -- 3:00 pm, at
Synod
Hall (North Craig Street, Oakland). That performance was
sponsored (in addition to
SMATCH) by the American Italian Cultural Institute of Pittsburgh
(AMICI) and the Italian Collection, Heinz History Center.
