High School Student Visit: SMATCH sponsored a high
school exchange visit involving students from Rome's Liceo Giordano Bruno and students
from two Montgomery County schools. Two groups of approximately
12
Giordano Bruno students each
visited Montgomery
Blair High School and the French International School (Lycee
Rochambeau) October 9-19. The students were accompanied
by their teachers and Liceo Principal Nicoletta Clemente.
Mr. Kevin Moose for Blair and Ms Paola Corneo for the French School
planned a series of events for the Italian visitors while they were in
our area. Liceo students/teachers were received by Dr. Luigi
Di Sanctis at the Italian Embassy on October 10.
Programs like these concord with the
scientific-cultural goals set out in SMATCH's Mission Statement and
help promote study of the Italian language in America and English in
Italy. We believe such events help promote better understanding
in each country of the cultural heritage of the other.
